Sheep Spanish and Bilingual StoryTime: December 13th and December 15th, 2012

This was the final set of Spanish and bilingual story time programs for the fall season. Last year, only four people showed to the last Spanish story time (understandable, families travel during this time), but this year, a mom and two kids showed up after I started cleaning up at the 15-minute mark (storyTime starts at 6:15 p.m. sharp, and it was already 6:30 p.m.). Story time usually ends at 6:45-6:50 p.m.)  I could have read a couple of stories, but by that time I was just plain tuckered out (my typical work day is 10-7:30/8 on Thursdays). On Saturday, a handful of people showed to bilingual story time, so I felt a lot better about my planning efforts. 

This next December, since my programs are at the end of the week, I think I am going to suggest that Spanish story time should end the Thursday before the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday English story times end, and that the Saturday bilingual story time end the Saturday before the English ones end as well. Mid-December are dismal months because of holiday traveling.

Hats Spanish and Bilingual StoryTime and Craft: December 6th and December 8th, 2012

You may have noticed that the story time programs for October and November 2012 are slightly out of order. Sorry about that. There were some posts I had as drafts because of missing information, but now, except for one post that I published that needs a photo, I'm fully updated.

Okay...here are the plans for the hat story time I did for both the Spanish and bilingual programs. We also made sailor hats out of newspaper after the programs. Although I  knew it wasn't exactly age-appropriate with all the steps involved, parents took the reigns on this one, and the kids were excited to wear their hats.

I highly recommend practicing lots and lots before doing this craft with a larger group.
